4th to 6th Weeks old

It's been so long i never update about my boy. Been so busy taking care and understands him.

During his fourth weeks, his intakes have gradually increased to 110 ML. Then he is still having trouble pooing, but at least is once a day and super alot and smelly. He wants to flip and lay his tummy on the bed. So i helped him and hold him and let him enjoy his tummy on bed. He can lift his head! I am so happy to see him grow each day. And i bathe him myself for this week! Though i'm not experience, at least i tried to bathe him, so that i will know more about him. This week, he also need to be get his Hep B (first month) injection. He sleeps and sleeps, then when i put him on the weighing scale, he didn't even move. LOL. This month, he weighs about 4.115KG and measures at about 52CM long now. His head circumference also now turned to 36CM. So he's growing. Then he was so funny, the nurse injected him, then he opened his eyes big and then start to cry, but for about few seconds, he went back to sleep again. LOL. I don't need to worried that he will cry like mad after we go out the room. HAHA! The injection was done at Polyclinic, and everything can be deduct via Medisave or even the baby bonus card. Everything injection until he's primary school will costs about 300 over. So really helps us saved alot. So after the injection, we brought him to Northpoint for his first haircut, which is shave bald! He looked so adorable in bald! LOL!

Everyday passed so fast and he's at his fifth weeks now, he's been cooing and he's more aware the environment now. I tried to shift left and right, he will follows. I tried to call him and talk to him, he will listen and smile at me. Then when he passed out gas and poop, he will gave this guilty look, with his eyes big and pout his lips (abit like the puss in boots from Shrek). It's so funny, we just can't stop laughing. But it's also the continuous of his super cranky mood again. I was suspecting whether he's having Colic. But i couldn't tell, because he will still falls asleep after each feed. Just that at about 8.30pm, he will try to cry and he's tired, but couldn't fall asleep. This began to made me worried. So i read the article, there's one mummy suggested that after baby feed, carry him upright and wait for him to burp and remain upright for another 5-10mins, then put his down to sleep. And if wants baby to pass out gas, when he's upright facing out, lift his both legs up to his tummy and he will pass out gas. So these are the ways to make babies release winds.

So now he is in his sixth weeks, he now can recognised his daddy and mummy. He will look for his daddy or mummy when someone carry him. He's still giving the puss in boots look whenever he knows he did something wrong or funny. He likes to sit up, but because his back is not fully strong yet. So we can't make him sit long. Now.. he knows how to smile and laugh (without sound). He knows that we are playing with him, he will start to move his legs and hands excitedly and then give us the smile. So adorable and it melts my heart totally. :) Now he also starts to coo even more, he can looked at you and wants to talks to you, with his oooh and aaahs.. He's saliva also slowly builds up, so sometimes he will choked on his own saliva and cough. But this week also made us confirmed that he is having colic. It all started on Thursday, he's totally wide awake after i bathe him from 12pm to 7pm then falls asleep after feed. He kept crying and wanted to be carry. Then once he falls asleep in my arms, once i put him down to his cot, his eyes will be wide awake and starts to cry again until 7pm. I don't even have time to bathe, to eat and even drink water. Then it's getting worser each day. Friday (yesterday), he managed to sleep throughout the morning and afternoon and woke up at about 12pm for his feed, then after his feed, he's totally wide awake again. He just wouldn't want to sleep. Then i can't even go for my lunch. Then waited until his next feed at 2pm, he's slowly getting tired, but still wouldn't sleep. So i let him sleep in my arms and at about 3.30pm, after his burp, then he fell asleep. He woke up at 7pm and after his feed, he's wide wide awake again and my husband and i have to take turns to have our dinner. Then he began his crankiness and cried on and off, so we found out that he might have gastrointestinal problem, because he kept squeezing out the gas and his face will totally turned red and many times he will vomit out his milk. Then his fart smell really very smelly, at times we thought he poop. So i guess he's having tummyache and that there's alot of wind and we need to make him burp and pass out the gas. I tried to apply the Ru Yi Oil on his tummy, blow his umbilical cord to keep dry and prevent water from entering. Then gave him tummy massage, back massage and even gave him evening bath also. i even gave him drink the gripe water. It helps abit but sometimes he just won't drink and he kept feeling hungry and wants to suck. Made milk for him, he drank abit and push away and starts to cry again, and then wants to suck again. I read from the article, they mentioned that warm baths can sooth baby too. So i did and it did helped abit, but he only fell asleep at 2am! I am totally bushed and he woke up for his feed at 6.50am and 9.50am. So his feed totally super irregular now and i hope he can adjust back his feeding and sleeping time.

So now he is sleeping, i am not sure whether his Evening Colic will start again or not. But i heard the time will always be the same time everyday and it may last until 3 months. It will come and go off by itself. So at the moment, we really can't do anything but to help him pass out the gas/winds from his tummy. My friend suggested me to get Anti-wind drops from pharmacy, so i guess we have to go out and buy later. Hopefully his colicky moments will go off soon and fast! I want my smiley baby back!!!!

Third Weeks Old

This week, my boy is getting naughtier and naughtier. He can sleep without swaddling and with dim lights. His milk intake have increased to 90ML per feed at every 2-3 hourly. :)

Then he began to observe people's face and will look at you when you are talking to him. Then he will smile at you. So adorable.

He also starts to sleep less during the day and well at the night. He starting to be cranky when he's tired and couldn't sleep. He loves people to carry him. He can sleep in your arms, when you lay him down on bed. He will be wide awake and doesn't want to sleep even if he's super tired and kept yawning.

He's neck and legs are so strong now. When you tried to move it, he uses his whole strength to resists it. How amazing.

He also starting to have constipation. He will make alot of constipated noise during sleeps. Then he gets so dehydrated, his lips are dried and chapped. So i have no choice to give him warm water before and after 30 mins of his feeds to hydrate him and make sure he can pass motion. I also got the help of my masseur, whom had taught me how to massage my baby in order to make him pass motion. Tried it yesterday and he really did pass motion. Tried today and it works again. So i will try to massage him daily, in order to regulate his bowels system. :)

This sunday we will be celebrating for his one month old. Is an early celebration. But i still felt time really pass very fast. And i can't wait to experience more from him. :) Just love to see him getting chubbier each day.

Two Weeks Old

He began to increase his intakes, so its a relieved. Although the timings are not so regular. He kept feeling hungry and spitting out milk or even vomit out milk.

Then he also made alot of sounds and noises. When he yawns, he yawn like an adult. When he sneeze, if he can't sneeze out, he will made those cute noise which is so funny. We will still laughed at it. Then he will start his oooh and aaahs.

For his age, he is quite clever, he can take out his mittens and kick off his booties. Then when he's super hungry, he will push the milk bottle up when you feed him or he will try to grab the bottle like as if he's holding it. So cheeky and naughty. Too bad i can't cut his finger nails yet. He kept scratching his face. So angry to see his face with scratches.

And at this week, he has already finish one can of formula milk. -_- quick right? Then also at this week, my milk supplies suddenly getting lesser and lesser. No matter how i massage with hot towel or used the breast pump. My milk still less than 5ml. At this week, i also had an emotional breakdown. I had a dispute with my family and i couldn't stop crying and cried for a week ever since. I have read that because our sudden drop in hormones level. We will tend to be easily emotional and this is also the critical stage to get Post-natal Depression. So have to be positive and control as much as possible.

So let's see next week how my boy is doing.

One week old

The first week was very torturing, because i cannot bathe and cannot wash my hair during my confinement. And my stitches was so painful and my breast milk only start around the forth day. Then the engorgement was so painful, i understand the painful experience of engorgement. Plus my milk was so little, i only managed to expressed a little out, and my boy get so frustrated, because my milk was so little, he only managed to latched on a few seconds and couldn't satisfied him. Then i was so stressful and i don't feel happy, because my husband not around to support me as i stayed at my parents home. And he just started his new job. Then my breast milk slowly getting lesser and lesser.

At this stage, my boy is trying to adjust this new world. We have to adjust to his needs like his feeding and sleeping time. At start, he couldn't feed well, only drank 15 to 20ml, which was less than what he drank at the hospital (40ml).

Suddenly there are a few nights, he couldn't sleep well. I guess he's afraid of the dark and need to be swaddle. So i can only observe him day by day.

Welcome our Little Boy.

On 15th November, i went for usual gynae appointment. My weight was still not increasing, and i am still having regular contractions which i don't feel it. I only felt cramps. My cervix also dilated a bit only. So my gynae advised me to admit to hospital as i may be in labour anytime or maybe not. So i chose to admit to hospital and stay for a night. I was like on standby mode, but still nothing happens.

So the next day morning (16th November), i suddenly felt that i should wake up and bathe and wash my hair. After i came out, just when i was about having my breakfast (i haven't got the chance to touch it), my gynae came and checked and said my cervix have dilated at 1cm. She also said i am still having regular contractions from the CTG Scan. But my naughty boy still don't want to come out. So she ask me whether i want to be induce or go home. So i chose to induced. Then she asked me to proceed to the labour ward, so she will just burst my water bag and we will wait for the labour to kick in.

When i reach the labour ward, i saw alot of mummies also waiting to deliver their child. Looks like the nurses and midwives would be extremely busy.

The nurse gave me the robe and asked me to change. Then she proceed to ask me some questions and ask me to read about the epidural consent form on the side effects and sign on it. Then she told me the whole procedure she is going to do and then make sure i am aware of it, then we start.

First, she insert something to my anus to let me pass motion (Incredible, it takes only seconds for me to rush to the toliet), you wouldn't want to poo poo during pushing. Then she shaved a bit for me and then a doctor came and inject the Epidural to my spine nerves. The Epidural injection was not painful at all. It's just a tinge feelings. Then my gynae came in to break the water bag and said will come in to check again. I didn't felt a gush of water, just only felt something have poke my water bag. Before that, they have to give me intravenous Drip of antibiotic, because i have Streptococcus B, so just to make sure baby won't get infected. Now everything done and i just have to wait for my cervix to dilate.

So my husband came and support me. Then i felt very hungry, because i didn't have my breakfast. HAHA! So they made toast and gave me Milo to drink. After few hours of waiting i felt asleep. Then suddenly i felt something flowing from down there, then the nurse came and check, then i realised that i have passed urine uncontrollably (one of the side effects from epidural).

Then at around 2pm, my cervix have dilated at only about 2cm. Then my husband and i predicted our boy would be out in the evening. Then there was one moment that i felt the contractions, it was rather pain and i now understand the pain of labour, then the nurse just asked me to turn to my right to let the epidural flow. Then the pain was gone. Then at about 4plus, the nurse came and checked and my cervix have dilated at 4cm. Then at about 5plus, they said i am ready to be push to the birth room. The birth room was extremely cold!!!! There's a small tv and we watched street fighters and then after the movie ended, my gynae came in and said i am fully dilated and can get ready to push. Oh my god, it was merely only about 45 mins and my cervix can fully dialted from 4cm to 10cm. My gynae said it will take about an hour for my boy to come out. Looks like the street fighter movie excited my boy. LOL.

So i just follow what the midwife instructions by pushing when contraction starts, then after several pushes. After 30mins, the midwife said she can call my gynae and can see the baby head. Then i quickly talk to my tummy and tell my baby that the gynae is coming, and he must faster come out. HAHA, after my gynae sat down and asked me to push, very fast, i have delivered my boy at 6plus, just as we predicted. I didn't notice he was out until i open my eyes and saw he was on my chest and at that moment i was abit surprised on how amazing it can be to give birth to a little life of my own. I couldn't digest and still felt overwhelmed until the next day then i can accept it. HAHA.

So my gynae said i have natural tear and did the stitches for me. Lucky she didn't cut, as natural tear already so irritated and very uncomfortably pain for me after the epidural wear off. So the midwife clean my baby and me, and then bring us all back to my room. Then everyone was waiting to see our bundle of joy.

The experience throughout the pregnancy and the delivery was so amazing and time really flies so fast. I am happy that i am officially a mummy now. :)
