The Importance of Supplements

Hi all, Yesterday one of my friend gave birth to a baby girl weighing at 2.23KG. My husband and i went to the hospital to visit her and we are so thrilled for her. Her baby looked so much like her, with her eyes and curly hair. HAHA. So i checked out her even more, because afterall she suffered so much pain to gave birth to her baby. Immediately she told me to ask for epidural and don't because i think i can endure the pain and bear with it.

She told me she started her contractions at 2am. Then she was feeling pain gradually and the nurses and midwife gave her this laughing gas. But she said she pained until she cannot hold the thing to breathe in and ask for epidural at around 4am. Then she said she felt numb at the lower part of the body, but at least she can have a good rest for few hours. Her baby was being induced. So they gave her drips and medicine to let her cervix to dilate until 10cm. Then at about 10am, she said she just push for 5 minutes and the baby is out. So touching.

They haven't name her yet. So throughout we call her baby baby... LOL.

She told me because she has pneumonia during her pregnancy, she was so devastated and was very scared that it would harm her baby, as she was given alot of anti-biotics and medicines. So she decided not to breastfeed the baby as the fear of medicines she took.

So she advises me to take the 'Nutrilite' supplements which we always take. And so that we will be healthy and baby will be healthy too. She said she just take it and at least now, her baby is healthy. She don't experiences much pain and most of all. She don't have water retention! So the followings are:

1 scoop of 200ml Protein - It supplies balanced amounts of 9 essential amino acids. (It can be mxied with the prenatal milk, so that it will taste good and the minerals are able to get into your body and baby)

1 tab of B complex - Contains 7 B vitamins - B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid, and B12; plus inositol and PABA
(para- amino- benzoic-acid). B5 helps to reduce stress and is need by the adrenal gland. B6 reduces water retention and increases oxygen flow to the female organs and also aid in restoring estrogen levels to normal. B12 helps to reduces stress, prevents anaemia. (B6 can curb Morning sickness too)

1 tab of Calcium Magnesium - Studies have shown that calcium supplements can reduce many symptoms of PMS by as much as 30%. Magnesium, deficiency may be associated with PMS. Should take together. (Yes. This is the best, she took alot of Calcium Magnesium, and she don't have water retention and swelling feet. This is importance and most of all it can calm the nerves and you won't get agitated so easily).

1 tab of Vitamin E with Lecithin - Good for sore breasts and other PMS symptoms, improves oxygen utilization and limits free radical damage. Also helps to relieve nervous tension, irritability and depression. (She said this is important as well, because it will provides oxygen to the brain and you will feel less lethargic and your complexions will improve as well).

1 tab of Bioflavonoid C -Aids in relief of discomfort and breast swelling. Also boost immune system. (This is very important, nowadays there are rise in H1N1 and the weather don't seems to be any good. It is best to take more Vit C to boost immunity).

1 tab of Iron Folic - Iron helps in building your blood cells and prevent Anemia, Folic is to prevent birth defects. (This is extremely important as well, gynae will usually prescribed Iron for you. But Iron have to take with Vit C, so that it can be easily absorbed into the body).

1 Capsule of Garlic and Licorice - Uses as a natural antibodies. (I have read articles, mothers should take garlic in order to build immunity as well, they said it is good for babies, so that their immune system also at its best).

All of the aboved mentioned supplements are from "Nutrilite". It is advisable not to mixed with other brands of supplements. You may wish to increase the dosages to 3 tabs if necessary. For best results is best to take 3 times a day, if you felt 3 times daily is too much, you can still reduce to once or twice daily to your own comfort level. Please also ask your gynae whether you are suitable for the above mentioned supplements. :)

As i have morning sickness, i have been taking B Complex, Bio C, Iron Folic and Calcium Magnesium. So i am slowly going to try out on Vitamin E with Lecithin and Garlic and Licorice. Once my morning sickness have subside. So i wish all mothers to be a great health and give birth to a healthy baby. Babydust! :)
